Image capture, image storage of image assets

Image capture, image storage of image assets

You can capture images in many of ways such as scanner, digital camera and tablets but the main one is, camera’s, cameras are an everyday image capture you can take them anywhere and time and of anything and camera are on basically every phone

Here is a simple picture of a phone taking a picture of the scenery as you can see this is a simple way of image capture and basically everyone can do this if they wanted

Now moving on to scanners, scanners can be used in many of ways but one of their great main features is that you can take any picture you have chuck it in there and get it uploaded to your computer and do whatever you want which is personally great and all round great in every way
Now… Storage, storage is very important in many ways due to it can keep all your files safe and you can store them anywhere, there is many ways of storing files on computer, you can store them on websites that give you space to store files on, you can store them on your pc in a backup file, or you can just simply store them in a USB drive and carry it around with you, now file size is also very important commonly USB’s and Data websites can usually hold around 8GB normally “websites can hold a lot more though if you pay more) but USB’S 8GB some Times cannot cut the amount of memory some things take, such as take a movie for example it can take up to 3gb’s but that’s not that much, due to a game of some sorts can acutely need up to 27gb’s such as world of Warcraft a very Data hungry game due to it’s got to store a lot of information, but let’s use this for a good example you can simply take this 27gb file and store it in another file so if you reformat your pc you can simply take out this file and reinstall it in a matter of minutes instead of a matter of hours

Types of digital graphics used to create digital images

Types of digital graphics used to create digital images

There is many types of digital graphics such as raster images (bmp, gif, tiff, jpg) all of these are commonly used to create digital images

BMP – Microsoft’s own home-grown image format, “BMP” file type is used in the windows environment for many various things and purposes such as displaying icons on computers and images etc but outside of that it’s got barley and purpose at all and are unsuitable for web use or printing

GIF -  Gif was one of the original web graphic files formats that supported 1-bit transparency and simple “low graphics” animations, but overall GIF is the best web option for images with flat and very simple colours such as drawings you make in illustratotor, Gif is rarely a good use outside of the internet due to the “Loseless” format meaning, even if the file is compressed no quality will be lost so that is why it’s most commonly used on the internet

JPG – JPG files are most commonly “.JPG” saved as extension, the acutely makers of the “.JPG” extension is a group called “Joint Photographic Experts Group” .JPG files are primarily used for images and mostly always are when you take one off the internet, most images are JPG due to JPG reduces the size of images by quite a bit also it is quite common for cameras to actually store JPEG format and basically can be opened up by all graphics programs in use (Photoshop, Paint, ETC.)

TIFF – tiff remains a very popular format due to it is strictly a bitmap – only format, which cannot support any type of vector data, but also can have levels of compression applied into it, tiff can support a very wide variety of colour models and resolutions and it also known for its reliability on the internet although it does produce very large files that commonly need to be compressed down

There is many file extensions that can and most commonly used in Digital graphics such as JPG and GIF also PNG

JPG – JPG files are most commonly saved as “.JPG” extension, the acutely makers of the “.JPG” extension is a group called “Joint Photographic Experts Group” .JPG files are primarily used for images and mostly always are when you take one off the internet, most images are JPG due to JPG reduces the size of images by quite a bit also it is quite common for cameras to actually store JPEG format and basically can be opened up by all graphics programs in use (Photoshop, Paint, ETC.)

GIF - GIF formally known as (Graphics interchange format), GIF’s File extensions save as “.GIF” and are very commonly used on the internet, very commonly .GIFS can support 8bit images, which basically means it support only “256 Colours” also gifs can contain Transparency, like here is just a simple GIF, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/55/8-cell-simple.gif as you can see this gif is fairly simple and just moves a bit but it continually goes on until the window is closed down, all

PNG – PNG, formally known as (Portable Network Graphics), which kind of means there is no loss in data like in GIF’S, which is meaning it has higher quality gifs due to it can store/have more data in it but the down side of it is the size of it, which is quite commonly high due to  the quality of them, PNG’s also support transparency

Image resolution

Image resolution

Commonly image resolution is a term that describes the detail an image usually holds, this term applies to many other things such as, digital images all the way up to film images , but also a known fact is, higher the resolution means more image detail

Image resolution can be measured in many of ways from MM per line, to lines per inch, to the overall size of a picture or image

Image resolution can be used in many of ways such as on pc’s “Screen resolution”, This is a image of the display of a computer, in this area you can change the size of what your screen can handle from 800 x 600 pixels all the way up to  1920 – 1280, but sometimes you can go higher than that but it’s not always recommend due to it takes up a lot of your GPU

Applications of digital graphics used for computer games:

Applications of digital graphics used for computer games:

Now, There is a couple of ways of Digital Graphics are used for computer games one of them is Pixel Art and the other is Concept art, Concept art more goes with (character, weapon, vehicle, environment ETC.) while Pixel art goes with (2D sprites, 3D isometric sprites)

Pixel art is a great feature that is used in graphics mainly for games, an example of this is the popular Minecraft. Minecraft is not fully pixelated but most of the textures for items in the game are giving the game a retro feel.

As you can see the items are quite pixelated and make it acutely use up a bit less of your computer from holding them but it doesn’t really matter due to minecraft isn’t that much of a power hungry game, so the sprites are entirely 3d isometric, so when you movie around it follows you

Now pixel art’s 2d side is quite a common thing such as Mario, Mario in the old days was entirely pixelated as you can see here

Mario acutely use to only be 8 bit, but later on in the future they upgraded his model more and more till they eventually made this

Now concept art is, well concept art is the thing that introduces games to the world etc. showing characters in games and how they will look etc. here is a image

ow, as you can see here this is very finely made and you can acutely see how much they make out the main character stick out, graves, graves is a character from online league of legends game, this game is quite famous now also all of these images are acutely show on their channel and show how they are made
But as you can see here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nT_dpnbH_oo they made a video on how to make someone similar to graves

Styles of Graphic art in computer games

Styles of Graphic art in computer games:

There is many types of Artistic Styles used in computer games, such as Photorealism, cel-Shading, Abstraction, exaggeration(Anime/manga), This is just a short list of what people use to create amazing artistic styles, a very common one for fighting games is, exaggeration due to it just runs so well with it, Also you can put quite a bit more gore, also some games was acutely based off of real animes before being turned into a game, such as

Naruto Shippuden has always been a great anime and has been here for quite a while the actual anime started in 1997 and is still going on today with over 500 episodes and soon to be 7 movies and countless amounts of manga as well

Cel-Shading, Cel-shading is an amazing way of making games etc. Charcters in game look like they have been hand drawn, when they have not due to they have been textured and made on the computer, this method also shows how amazingly Computers can mimic Comic book drawings and Cartoons, but this method is quite similar to anime, but not that close but it really does mimic it and show how great you can acutely mimic it
